How Ruckmas Works
Participants receive access to 25 unique ruck-based workouts combining rucking with functional movements such as:
- Ruck squats
- Lunges
- Push-ups
- Ruck rows
- Ruck deadlifts
- Ground-to-chest
- Core work
- Ruck intervals
- Fast rucks
- AMRAP’s
- Strength circuits
- Holiday-themed missions
Most workouts are designed to take approximately 25-45 minutes.
The goal is to work with purpose, maintain a strong pace, and complete each mission within the 45-minute performance standard. But 45 minutes is not a stopping point. If you reach 45 minutes and still have work remaining, keep going and finish the mission. Your completion time determines how many leaderboard points you earn.
Finish the workout. Record your time. Earn your points.
Workout Time & Scoring
Ruckmas is designed around short, hard workouts that challenge strength, endurance and resilience without requiring hours of training. The performance target for every workout is 45 minutes or less.
Participants who complete workouts within the target receive maximum workout points.
Workout Scoring:
45:00 or Less – 4 points
45.01-60.00 – 3 points
Over 60.00 2 points
Participants should record their total workout time when submitting each workout. There is no penalty for scaling exercises when necessary for safety or ability. The goal is to challenge yourself while completing the mission appropriately for your fitness level.
Required Ruck Weight
Participants must carry at least:
Under 150 lbs: 10 lb. ruck
150 lbs. and above: 20 lb. ruck
Participants may carry additional weight if they choose. Maximum ruck distance for any individual workout: 3 miles. Participants are encouraged to scale movements, repetitions, and pace when necessary.
The Four Phases of Ruckmas
The 25 workouts progress through four training phases designed to gradually increase the challenge throughout December.
Phase 1 – Build the Base
Start December by building consistency, movement quality, and work capacity.
These workouts introduce the primary movements used throughout the challenge while combining manageable ruck distances with funtional fitness.
Phase 2 – Build Strength
The workload starts climbing.
Expect more muscular endurance, ruck resistance exercises, faster intervals, and challenging circuits designed to build strength without requiring a gym.
Phase 3 – Holiday Grind
This is where Ruckmas earns its name.
The most demanding phase features faster rucks, higher repetitions, shorter recovery periods, AMRAPs, ladders, and workouts designed to test both physical and mental toughness.
Phase 4 – Finish Strong
Finish December with holiday-themed missions, community challenges, the signature 12 Days of Ruckmas, and the final bell workout. You’ve made it through the busiest month of the year. Now finish the mission.
